Flemington Library is getting a refresh!
This May we were successful in a State Government grant application to redevelop the first level of our much-loved Flemington Library. Through the 2021 Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, we have received one million dollars in funding for the project, which Moonee Valley City Council has matched dollar for dollar.
The redevelopment will remedy accessibility issues present in the current design of Flemington Library, substantially increase publicly available space, and create a modern, flexible design.
The plans we have made will give more space to the community to support learning, creative programs and large community events. Upgrades to the library amenities will make the library more welcoming and accessible to the local community.
Essential elements of the redevelopment will include:
- a DDA compliant lift
- extra public bathrooms
- a new insulated roof with new air handling system to reduce carbon emissions from the operation of the building
- redesigning the two large meeting rooms, meaning more space for everyone on level one.
