Flemington Library is open!

Project Update

We are thrilled to announce that the refurbishment of Flemington Library's first floor is now complete and the branch at 313 Racecourse Road is open!

The first floor of the library has been transformed into a welcoming, sustainable and accessible space that supports learning, creative programs and large community events. Features include new meeting rooms, extra public bathrooms, and a fresh kitchenette – all accessible via a brand new DDA compliant lift.

The project has been completed with sustainability in mind, improving the building’s environmental performance to reduce carbon emissions.

The redevelopment was made possible by the State Government's Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, with support from Moonee Valley City Council.

Official Opening

On Thursday 21 September the new space was formally unveiled with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by by The Hon Danny Pearson, MP for Essendon, Sheena Watt MP and Mayor Cr Pierce Tyson.

We were also joined by Councillor Rose Iser and Councillor Katrina Hodgson alongside other distinguished guests, staff and community members.

Closure of the Pop-up library

As you may know, the Flemington team continued to deliver services from a pop-up branch on Ascot Vale Road during the renovations.

We loved our time at the pop-up library on Ascot Vale Road. In fact, we loved it so much so that we will be keeping the space for a while longer. Keep an eye out for future programs and events at this location.

Until then, see you at 313 Racecourse Road!
