Ascot Vale Library is open!
Project Update
We are thrilled to announce that renovations are complete at Ascot Vale Library and the branch at 165 Union Road is now open!
While the historic facade of the building has been retained and refreshed, the interior has been transformed and extended into a welcoming, sustainable, and accessible space that supports learning, creative programs and community events. The new building boasts three times the floorspace over two levels, with meeting rooms, space for events, more study areas, internal and external public toilets, public kitchenette, open air balcony, DDA compliant lift, and a Changing Places bathroom.
This redevelopment project has been supported by Moonee Valley City Council and the Victorian Government, through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program and the Changing Places Program.
Official Opening
On Friday, 22 August, the newly refurbished building was officially unveiled during a formal opening ceremony.
The Moonee Valley CEO Helen Sui and Mayor Ava Adams, along with Honourable Nick Staikos, Minister for Local Government and Consumer Affairs, Honourable Danny Pearson, Minister for Finance, Economic Growth and Jobs, and the member for Essendon, and Angela Savage, CEO of Public Libraries Victoria all gave a warm welcome to the new library.
We were also joined by Deputy Mayor Councillor Fran Cosgriff Councillor Hamish Jones and Councillor Phil Burn, alongside other distinguished guests, staff and community members.
