Book Club Sets

Moonee Valley City Libraries has over one hundred book club sets available to borrow. Book club sets are available for loan for a period of six weeks.   

Each book club set contains 10–12 copies of the same book. To borrow a book club set please place a hold request via the library catalogue(opens in new tab). You will receive an email when the book club set is available to collect from your selected branch. You have a seven-day window to collect your book club set from the hold shelf. The books are packaged in a blue vinyl carry bag, and each item needs to be scanned at the self check-out kiosk. 

Anyone who holds a Moonee Valley Library card can borrow our book club sets. The borrower takes responsibility for all copies of the book and the blue vinyl bag. 

It is the responsibility of the borrower to ensure that all books issued with the book club set are returned in good condition by the due date. Standard fees and charges apply for lost or damaged items, as per library guidelines. 

Book club sets can be borrowed for six weeks. Book club sets cannot be renewed. 

Each book club set has 10–12 copies of the book. If you require more books you may be able to borrow a library copy. Check the catalogue if any additional copies are available, or ask a staff member for assistance. 

We recommend that you only place holds on book club sets that show as ‘on shelf’ on the catalogue. Book club sets that are ‘on loan’ may not be returned on time and we cannot guarantee that any book club set will be available on the date required. 

Please place the books through the chute individually and fold up the blue vinyl bag and return it through the chute. If you are returning the book club set during opening hours, please return it to a staff member.

If you are keen to read a particular title and it is currently on loan, you can place the book club set on hold and search for titles that are currently available (and show as ‘on shelf’) on our library catalogue. We also suggest that you create a shortlist of preferred book club sets, to avoid disappointment.

Currently the library does not facilitate individuals joining book clubs. Anybody with a Moonee Valley Libraries card is welcome to borrow book club sets.
