The Big Summer Read starts Sunday 1 December 2025 and registration is now open! The challenge finishes on 31 January 2026.
The Big Summer Read is a statewide reading
challenge for anyone aged 0-18 years.
How to participate:
1. Sign your child up online at readbooks.com.au/bsr and register using your Moonee Valley Libraries membership
OR
Prefer paper? Pick up a reading journal from one of our library branches to track your child’s progress.
2. Your child can claim a small prize when they read their first five books or log their first five days reading, while supplies last.
3. Keep your child reading through December and January to earn online badges and complete fun activities.
4. For every five books read or five days spent reading, your child will be entered to win exciting prizes!
