Want to see your artwork on a Moonee Valley Libraries bookmark?
We are calling on kids aged 3–12 years with an exciting challenge to design the image for our 2026 ‘What’s on For Children’ bookmark.
Winners from two age categories will receive a $50 book voucher, and their artwork will be used on our bookmarks.
Pick up a template from your library branch during the month of August.
Entries must be returned by Sunday 31 August, along with a permission form signed by the entrant's parent or guardian.
In September, you will be able to vote for your favourite shortlisted entry right here on our website.
We can't wait to see what you come up with!

This competition is how we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of Children’s Book Week (16-23 August 2025).

Entry templates available
Entry templates are available at all Moonee Valley Libraries branches from now until the end of August! You're welcome to take a couple in case you make a mistake, but remember you can only enter once!
Entries close
All entries and permission forms must be returned by 5pm on Sunday 31 August. Sam Merrifield Library is open on Sunday afternoons if you've left it until the last minute! Library staff will now assess the entries and create a shortlist.
Voting begins
Shortlisted designs will be displayed on this webpage from today. Library members will be able to vote for their favourite design in each age category (3-7 years and 8-12 years). Voting will be open for two weeks.
Voting closes
This is the last day to vote. After this, library staff will tally up responses and start preparing the winning artworks to be announced and printed!
Winners contacted
Library staff will contact the two winners by the end of this day. Winners will be invited to collect their book voucher from their preferred library branch and have their photo taken if they wish.Â
New bookmarks printed
The new bookmark designs will be finalised and sent off to print in early October. When the finished product arrives they will be available for all community members to take home. Winners will be given extra copies to give to family and friends.
Shortlist
Shortlisted entries will be displayed here from Monday 8 September.
