Would you like to join discussions on a range of books and literary topics?
Our Book Clubs cover a variety of genres, topics, and authors. There are currently around twenty active clubs facilitated through the Library.
The advantage of joining a Book Club through us is that we provide the books as a set, alongside a kit of reading notes to help promote discussion. Book titles are negotiated with one of our librarians and loaned out for four weeks.
Registration
Pre-existing groups with a maximum of twelve people are welcome to approach the library for assistance in facilitating books. One person from the group will be nominated as a contact point with the library.
Individuals can express an interest in joining a group by emailing us at mvbookclubs@mvcc.vic.gov.au. There may be a waiting period depending on availability and scheduling.*
Location & meetings
Book Clubs are welcome to reserve a room at the Library (subject to availability/fees) or can alternatively meet at an external location as they wish.
Groups can meet whenever it is suitable, upon agreement with Library staff.
Fees
Pricing for Book Clubs are confirmed among library fees & charges in Moonee Valley City Council's annual budget. Current costs are as below.

Meanwhile, we encourage individuals to join Ben’s Book Club online.
Ben's Book Club
Ben’s Book Club is a free, nationwide, digital book club service held via Zoom on the fourth Tuesday of each month by Overdrive Australia. The selected title for each month is available for loan with no holds or wait lists on the Libby app.
Meetings are hosted by Australian author Ben Hobson, in conversation with the authors. Participants have the opportunity to interact with authors, ask questions, and enjoy a bookish discussion. The Ben’s Book Club Facebook group also offers group members the opportunity to post comments before the discussions.
Note: You will need a library membership to access eBooks and eAudiobooks for Ben’s Book Club.
